(VTR) - Around 20km of the Bai Chay Tourist Wharf to the south of Ha Long bay is the wild and charming Cua Van fishing village. It was voted as one of the most beautiful coastal village in the world by tourism consultancy website called Travel and Leisure. Situated at Hung Thang commune, Ha Long city, the fishing village lying in a calm bay surrounded by mountain was organized twice by UNESCO as an attractive destination to both international and domestically visitors. There are approximately 700 people living in moored floating houses. Children also go to floating classrooms.
Tourists will indulge themselves with magnificent rivers and mountains scenes in peaceful atmosphere; explore real life of fishermen. Country girls will be your tour guide that directly shows visitors how to rowing, catching shrimps… Night is the best time for visiting around the village as well as fishing squids.

The Floating Centre of Culture is the first one was built in Viet Nam for the purpose of culture conservation of the floating villages like Cua Van village. Many traditional fish catching tools, images and documentary of coastal life were reserved and introduced travelers by tour guide who is young generations of Cua Van village. Six topics are introduced are nature and human; fishing catching method; fisherman material life; water life’s importance and spirit life… In festivals or in weddings, “hat gheo”, “hat cheo duong” (a kind of chorus performance) are usually performed. All these rustic waterways experience will be unforgettable.
From Ha Long bay, tourists can get Cua Van fishing village (Van Gia fishing village) by boat or depart from Beo pier, Cat Bay to visiting Lan Ha bay first then come to Cua Van. Exploring Sang cave by kayak would be amazing activity. |
