Ha Noi, 02 February 2020
Subject: Vietnam Tourism is actively controlling the impact of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Pneumonia
Dear Friends,
On behalf of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam, I would like to inform all our supporters, business partners and friends that the Government of Viet Nam and tourism sector have enhanced their vigilance and taken concrete measures to ensure the maximum heath protection and safeguards in response to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) Pneumonia situation.
Right after China announced the outbreak of the 2019-nCov disease and WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), the Government of Viet Nam and all sectors such as Health, Tourism and other relevant State Agencies have actively took part in responding to the emergency situation and promptly applied a series of preventive and controlling measures to minimize the risk of infection. A National Steering Committee for 2019-nCoV epidemic prevention and control has been established as well as 45 quick response teams have been deployed. All border checkpoints are being strictly monitored as well as suspected cases have been isolated and actively treated in hospitals. VNAT has announced and guided nationwide measures to control and ensure the best travel and health for tourists.
On February 1, 2020, the Government of Viet Nam has officially announced the epidemic and synchronously implemented the epidemic prevention and control measures. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has also included a special landing page on its website at http://vietnamtourism.gov.vn for updating information, accompanying and supporting tourism enterprises in deploying measures to ensure safety and health for tourists.
Having extensive experience in dealing with SARS, MERS and other epidemic diseases in the past, Viet Nam has a good health monitoring system to control and defense this new outbreak of Pneumonia disease. Thanks to Viet Nam’s enormous efforts of all sectors and people involved, 2 virus-infected Chinese citizens have been successfully cured in Viet Nam and the situation is well under control. Viet Nam remains a safe travel destination and daily life is going on as usual.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism believes the epidemic will soon be contained and tourism and community activities will return to normal. VNAT would like to take this opportunity to remind the hygiene habits of all while enjoying the experience in Viet Nam. We are ready to help and connect with related authorities on further information regarding the 2019-nCoV situation in Viet Nam./.
MR. NGUYEN TRUNG KHANH
