Sa Dec city hosts over 400ha of bonsai flowers grown by over 2,200 households who specialize in 2,000 species, including prunes, ancient bonsai, potted flowers, branch trimmed flowers and leafy prunes… East Tan Quy flower village is in the Northeast of Sa Dec city. Along Provincial Highway 23 down from Cao Lanh wharf, it is unmistakable for East Tan Quy village that rows of bonsai flowers commingle colorfully with paddy, soya bean and maize fields… and houses sprinkled with flower beds in the front.
Visitors to Sa Dec are to delight in its kaleidoscopic tapestry of green, red, purple and yellow, particularly around 50 rose species for exports, namely stunning Grada, Cleopatra, Korokit, Marseille or Elizabeth… Villagers have also heavily invested in brand new rose species such as Thai roses, French rose vines or woody roses… of which French rose vines are growing in immense popularity.
Sa Dec is also famed for bonsais, some of which are so rare and date back a century ago alongside other rustic and popular species, namely star fruit, areca, fig, banyan or ochna… From Japanese spruces, pines or cedars to kumquats, orange jasmines, ochnas or water jasmines… artisans have never ceased to create and generate the postures of spouse, mother carrying her child, cascading waterfall or wind embrace…
The village is also alluring with a string of flower cafes and eye catching, welldecorated recreational areas. At Phong La Vent, a bamboo house in the midst of a 5ha flower garden, visitors should feel free loosening themselves into the charming world of flowers and share the day with the host and their life. Rose homestay, which spans up to 20,000sqm, allows for free roams and poses in its rose garden of over 130 species. In particular, there are numerous ancient bonsai species of at least 30 years, notably a pair of ancient tamarind bonsais that set a Vietnamese record by horticulturist Nguyen Phuoc Loc. Visits and captures of best photos at this tourist site aside, visitors can also sip some coffee, take part in camping, flower plantation or bonsai pruning… Hoa Ech house was the first homestay unit in Sa Dec city, whose host was a veteran horticulturist in bonsai and frog breeding as well.
Through the main lane from the flower gate that stretches 2km, households also founded a bonsai flower co-op combined with tourist services aimed at flower gates or bonsai clusters… that have lured lots of domestic and foreign visitors.
